3/31/11 - Hope Has Passed Away
Right to Life of Spokane now has our own Saint in Heaven. Hope Braun, our long time office manager, passed away suddenly today, 3/31/11.
Hope started working at the Right to Life office many years ago and has been the face of Right to Life in Spokane. She was questioned once during a radio interview about what Right to Life did for the moms of babies who were not aborted and this caused Hope to start RTL's 'Moms in Need' program, which provides clothing, diapers, food and other necessities for children, regardless of race, creed or financial need.
One of my favorite Hope stories involves Hope's fight for the unborn. A woman stopped Hope on the street downtown one day and asked, "Aren't you Hope?" She confirmed that she was and the woman said to her, "You may not remember me, but I would like to introduce you to someone." The woman called her very lovely 16 year old from the car and said, "This is my daughter Hope. I came in to see you at the Right to Life office, even though I had been planning on having and abortion. You talked to me and helped me realize that the sanctity of life was more important, so I named her after you." Hope could tell the story better than I have here, but it shows how she touched one woman and saved one life.
Even in my sorrow the one thing that brings me some joy is that I know that Hope is up in Heaven, dancing with Jesus and loving on all those babies whose lives on earth were disposed of. Hope, we will miss you, but we know that we will be reunited when the time comes for the natural end for those of us you have left behind on earth.
